just my first impressions of this, I got one of these this morning for £20
https://www.aldi.co.uk/workzone-digital-soldering-station/p/083184201878400
the cable from the display is 1 metre long and is very flexible (compared to a normal pvc cable)
it comes with 3 tips, but I think I'll end up making some of my own from phosphor bronze as the originals are threaded M4 (compared to the 3 tips that I use on my antex temperature controlled iron.
to says its a 60w iron they could have used provided a larger tip for soldering larger items, as the chisel tip supplied wont take long to cool down (bit in hindsight the 3 antex tips cost nearly as much as the Aldi Iron
the display shows the temperature of the iron, but its open to interpritation as it shows the temperature up to the desired temperature, then it stops there, it doesnt go up or down (which it would do in real life).
this took less than a minute to get to an indicated 300c, and will operate from 200 to 450C
so there you go first impressions.....probably better than a £10 iron that has no control, but to compare to better quality irons like Antex, the tips choice is a bit poor, but for just joining a couple of wires together a year it'll probably be fine
