Hi All,
My first question which I hope you can advise on!
Ok, had my machine for a few months now, use it to weld 10 gauge 6082 T6 aluminium tube mainly and have been quite satisfied with my progress and work quality. It has been a steep learning curve having only really welded steel in the past.
However, some welds I have just done looked great...but after grinding and blending showed random bubbles of trapped air for the first time. Can go back over things with lower amps and get rid of the bubbles but this is extra work and probably produces a lower quality of work.
The joint in this case is between 3" dia 10 gauge tube and a machined piece which fits like a socket onto the end. It is a nice tight joint with very little gap but the machined piece is heavier as it is up to 16mm thick which soaks up a lot of heat. 200amps gets both melting well though, dab the filler and keep moving...perhaps I stop to reposition / rest too often? Or have I got it too hot? Or am I adding too much filler? Or does the gas flow need to be increased? Or does anyone have any other ideas that I could try?
Hopefully get some replies and make a change to what I am doing!
Thanks in advance
