Hi all
Trying to sort a massey 35 brake rod which has worn badly.
1" socket in cast iron on tractor side.... 1" solid steel? rod fits into it and rotates alittle when brakes applied.
The rod has about 1/2" diameter of metal left after 40 years wear.
Contemplating
1.Building up with weld and grinding back.(Rough and diff to get round.)
2.Fit 1" copper sleeve over rod and trying to fill hole from end? Remove copper and fit.(Assuming copper would not stick to weld.)
3.Fit 3/4" copper sleeve over rod and fill. This size is also about 1" outside so would act as a bearing?
Any thoughts or better ideas would be brill.
