Hi guys really need some adice on this, so i have a mini mig 130 using 0.6 futuris mild steel wire, im doing mainly spot/tac welds on car panels but have been doing beads on chassis rails, everything was fine until i changed the gas , i was using a c02 cylinder i had given but that run out and now iv brought a hobby weld 5 cylinder which is 2% 02 , 5% c02 and 93 % argon mix , Now iv given it some time to get used too but im not sure what to do as i really cant stand using this vs the results i was seeing with just c02, a few things iv noticed is its welding a lot Hotter!! and i mean a lot! in the sense that its now like my welders heat setting is stuck on high, im having to have wire speed cranked right up even on minimum heat settings to keep up, not good for thin panels also find it harder to produce a neater spot/tac weld , hard to explain but some times iv seen the weld get an erection after iv stopped, lol must like me!, dont know the name for that but iv never realy had that before , its almost like this gas doesnt like small welds {contamination for a split second?} but prefers long beads on thicker material as i did have a nice looking bead when i was doing 3mm plate , im also getting black residue after welding but im guessing this is normal for this gas, iv tryed turning the gas flow down and up with no real change in results there website says this is the best gas for what im doing but im not seeing it like that , this me being a pleb? cheers....http://hobbyweld.co.uk/products/hobbyweld-5/
