Hi Guys,
Not so much a 'which tig welder' but more of a 'what accessories do I need' post.
I'm going to go for a DC tig as;
1: I only need to weld steel and maybe a little stainless
2: an AC/DC unit is way out of my meagre budget right now. However if I get on with it then I may upgrade in the future, in the first instance it really is only for having a play with!
I reckon No. 17 & 9 torches would be useful but can't decide about the foot pedal. It seems in America you can't weld without one but I thought, wrongly or rightly, it's more suited for when welding aluminium?
I've accumulated a selection of tungstens, collets etc from years ago when I tried scratch start (but only managed about 5 mins of weld time from the disposable bottle, 3 of which were spent trying to seperate the tungsten from the solidified weld pool)
I have a bottle of argon, regulator & flow meter and a nice new mask (thanks Tom)
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatfully received.
Thanks in advance,
Paul
