I have been watching this post since the start, but a thought just came to mind. Most grinders have the inner clamping washer keyed somehow to the shaft to prevent slipping. With a cheapo this could be as simple as a small pin through the spindle to pick up a notch in the washer. If the pin or the washer does not match this could throw out the washer? I've had a similar grinder for many years with no problem whatsoever.
