Hey everybody,
I want to buy a welder soon, and I've asked around and it seems a MIG is the best fit for me. My dad bought a stick welder when he was 16 and he's used it for various small tasks in and around the house/garden/workshop. That's how I want to use it: a steel frame for a workbench, some weathering steel in the garden, maybe weld a new floor pan in a classic car or whatever comes up. I want to use this welder for the rest of my life (unless I really get into metalworking).
Now, my dad thinks it might be a good idea to go for a 380V welder since more volt works easier or gives more control or something. I have access to 380V in the house, should I look for a 380V welder?
I'm looking for a welder in the price range of €200 - €300 (say £200) but if another €100 would really buy me a much better welder than perhaps I can save up a little longer. By the way, I still have no idea which exact welder I would buy if I know which voltage to use. I'm completely new to this whole thing.
I'm looking forward to your advise!
