Hi all,
made a 1st attempt at a rocket stove, used the cut & weld fab method as no box section.
Seems to work ok, boiled a 1ltr kettle in about 5 mins, not sure if i got design right though.
The lower air path and the door seem to be surplus? If i close the door it smokes a lot and burn poorly, as wood burns with top-air, the lower intake seems to do very little.
It worked best with fuel at 50% of the chute or less, more and it cuts the airflow/rocket effect.
The vertical is 100x100x500mm, lower edge of chute is 250mm, fuel chute is 100x70mm
Temperature at base was about 380c and at top 210c.
So,
do they need a door?
do they need the lower air slot?
Would i be better off leaving the air slot out and raising the chute a bit to create a firebox area below the wood intake?
Any experts out there?
