I have read all of the fantastic guides on here. Indeed reading them all
has made me think now is the time to get welding. I am proficient with tools and
restore vintage motorcycles (1980 models mostly)
I have two projects - Ride on mower decks * 2 and a
golf gti mk1 with 15 plus rust holes to weld up.
The Golf will never be done - unless I can do it.
It is unlikely I will ever do more than the above type of work but I am sure
if I find I can weld other things will come to mind.
The welders I am looking at are:
-Wolf Mig gas/gasless 140 (sold for £160) + some cheap extras.
-GYS easymig 140 (Sold by my local shop for £348 inc many fittings)
There is no way my budget for this can go higher than the £348 GYS for the machine.
plus some gas, wire and gas valve. I can from this shop get the tank and refills for
11ltr argon/co2.
When I get either of these I will post my first welds from total novice to .....
for all to see purely with what this site has taught me. I can barely wait !
Which welder should I get ? Any ideas ?
I really want a reliable one that can cope with my inexperience.
I am drawn somehow to the GYS as it seems to be built very well.
