hi all, been away for a while, so thought id pop back with an idea
looking to make a rigid bipod for my air rifle.
it has a 15mm Odia of the barrel, so im thinking, a bit of 16mm internal diameter tube, cut to about 15mm length, M6 tapped hole in either the top or side for a grub screw, and then weld legs on 45deg from each other., was also thinking, if i weld the legs together, so i have an inverted 'V', then notch the top so the tube sits in the notch halfway, i wouldnt compromise the sights, as i wish to use open sights as well as the scope.
i can make the 'tube' on the colleges lathe if needed, and i have some angle iron that can be used for the legs
its only to be used on a shooting range, and not for use in the field, and it seems a cheaper option than buying one
does this sound do-able? or am i barking up the wrong tree?
P.S. i will also be placing a thin peice of rubber between the barrel and the mating face of the grub to stop it marking the barrel when the gun kicks
