Set the gas up on the sealey this after noon, after cleaning the connectors on the switch.did some test welds. im no master welder but the mig performed well.
Hi Mike ,i think you have helped me solve the problem !
I noticed the terminals and screws were greeny and one spade was loose,so as you said i turned screws and moved spades on and off...hey presto motor feed running and power to the wire . I will now clean switch up fully and i should be ok...
I tested the output by striking the gun with welding wire protruding from the shroud .onto the earth clamp while pulling trigger as if to weld....but no spark happened.
It now looks like someone in the past for whatever reason has pulled off the two spade conectors you see floating around ,from the yellow light.
And conected the yellow light to the live out side of the switch to denote when the rig is switched on.
So ive linked out the thermal cut out switch...
That sounds very interesting Mike, i presumed that was the on light for power. And i cant be sure if the light was on or not before when the mig was working ok.
Its a bit late to try , but i will check this out along with where the white wires go to tomorrow evening .
Hi Mike. Thanks for the help again.
I have checked the continuity of the trigger between pins 5 and 7 all ok there.
I have measured voltage coming out of the contactor suppliying the 240 volts this is ok too so the circuit is being fed.
It seems strange that both the wire feed and the welding...
Is there a key for the circuit diagram ?
Presuming the switch on the trigger is ok which i think it is because gas comes through when i pressed it .but no arc or wire feed. Where should i be looking now for the fault .?
Hi thanks for your help here.
The fuse is ok and the fan is running.
The spot timer has a toggle switch .and it is set to continuous welding not timed.
I recently fitted a liner made from a curtain wire could it be this causing the problem.
Ok so ive had a look inside the unit no burns or anything on pcb etc.the main contactor is working
When i pull the trigger.but theres no power to the wire or the feed motor when i pull the trigger.
After getting the machine set up with gas.i switched it on . The power light was flickering and then went out then i switched it back on again and power light stayed on ..so pulled the trigger to weld gas was coming through.but the wire feed roller stopped spinning completely .could the problem...
I pulled the old nylon black liner out tonight and its diameter is 4 mm with a hole big enough to take .8 and .6 wire.
I have put a length of curtain plastic coated wire in as a replacement. Thè dimensions were the same.the wire is now in and the feed is running perfectly.
All i need now is a...
hi ,im very new to mig welding,i have bought a used sealy 180/1 mig plant, and i need a new liner,
how do i know which one to get ,it has a type 15 nozzle thats all i know,
thanks in advance for any advice
