well its been a while and needed to tig the pin to the side of the holder.
but finally got to the tig the other day, so got that pin welded in.
holder cleaned up after the welding and bearing's put on, and into a tool holder.
works very well.......
did promise Windy Miller il post some pics...
yup indeed. i didn't really want a join in the cable, but it will be fine being done right.
thanks all for the replies..
will get it refitted to the compressor at some point this week.
so i went to turn the compressor on so i could use the hypertherm.
and nothing.
so first, check the fuse, and it was blown.... strange, but anyway put a new fuse in.
turned it on again and the motor hummed for 4 secs then stopped.
fuse blown again....
managed to get the fan cover loose on the...
cheers for the reply.
if you check
https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/quick-change-tool-post.133284/#post-2349151
your see pictures of compound slide.
4mm oval slot below the current toolpost bolt head sits in.
and for some reason a 6mm ish circle hole on top.
leaving only 4mm...
well despite asking arceurotrade if they was doing anything for black Fridays to get a NO reply.
i noticed they did a 20% off special for the weekend..
so i got a toolpost and 10 holders.
a bit of tool steel, some T nuts for lathe cross slide, micro tap guide and a MT3 to MT2 adaptor.
so now...
so looking up hobbyweld on their website
got three that are local ish.
Rayleigh, Rochford and Romford
as for deposits..
Small is £70 - 9 litre cylinder - 137bar
Medium is £110 - 20 litre cylinder - 230bar
Large is £190 - 20 litre cylinder - 300bar
looks like they do 5% and 15% for Mig...
not got any. and time i find some of that. i might aswell just buy the micro version for £5.
im going to be ordering from arceurotrade soon i think anyway so il add to my order.
for now i just put the 5mm tap in tailstock to keep it straight and start the thread off,
then release it and use a...
dunno if my torch with get hot enough for that.
aww, might aswell grab one of the micro versions too. cheers for that.
dont have one. did try a masonry bit but didn't do anything, i would assume it would of needed sorting to the right angle etc for that,
that was the plan, but for the sake of...
so after watching a video and see someone using one of these.
i thought its about time i had one too. instead of eyeballing the tap to see if its straight.
thought about making one, but soo many things to do.
i thought il see how much they was first. if very expensive then i guess il make one...
cheers all for the replies and photos, links etc.
i guess its something i need to try and learn, never worried before as i used to get the brazed tools sharpened then moved to inserts for the main stuff.
as its only four 10mm posts i needed to do, i just done the best with the current radius...
yer i guess it would be better to just join it to the oval plate like it is currently.
Wow thats an impressive collection of holders you got thee Dr.Al.... very nice.
the only issue i can see. is the bolt stud that comes with above said toolpost is threaded both ends?
where mine is like a stud with an end plate on it.
and that sits into a oval like recess? and the other side also has a circle recess......
the casting is 15mm thick. but take off both...
normally when stuff like that pops up on this site and others places, i miss it. and its got to the stage where i need to get it sorted out..
ive used them before on current post and holder as two of the holders take deep cutters. not something i use all the time and if i do, i ain't taking...
so the plan was to wait until i got myself a better lathe. but trying to find one that similar size in good condition and has everything isn't easy.
also needs to be able to be used on top of the long bench currently in garage.
i do not have room for the type that has its own base/cabinet...
