I'm hoping to source some scrap steel to practice welding with from local fabricators.
What's the going rate?
What's the going rate?
that seems expensiveAs an example, I just bought an 8' by 1' piece of 1.5mm steel sheet for £15, and that included them cutting it.
They told me they dont even bother scrapping their off cuts anymore because scrap steel is worth so little, and that they would rather sell them to customers at cost or little mark up.
£7.50 material, £7.50 cut .......sounds about rightthat seems expensive
i was paying 25 quid for an 8 x 4 sheet of 1mm£7.50 material, £7.50 cut .......sounds about right
Sort of thing would be a fiver if the boss wasn't about
i think youd be luckyNot bought anything that thin for ages, but would be around £15-16 + VAT for a 2500x1250 . Probably a tenner for delivery if that was all I was buying though
I would like to hear what others are paying for 1.5mm steel sheet and cuts this yearthat seems expensive
are you unable to transport and cut a sheet up yourself ?I would like to hear what others are paying for 1.5mm steel sheet and cuts this year
if you were to weigh in 100 kg you would get around a tenner so you wouldnt want to be paying much more for 100kgi did like the others said and paid scrap value on the weight of what i had.
last time i went i picked up some 3mm offcuts around 4 inch x 8 inch and some strips of 1.5mm 2 inch wide by 3 feet long cost me £4
i think they make more money selling items to me than its scrap value at the moment.
What has that got to do with the equivalent price others are paying?are you unable to transport and cut a sheet up yourself ?
in that case I've been hadif you were to weigh in 100 kg you would get around a tenner so you wouldnt want to be paying much more for 100kg
You've got me curious now. I'll give my local stockholder a tinkle in the morning to see how muchi think youd be lucky
