Got these torches and parts from my dad who was a professional welder in the 80s before they resaddled as greenhouse farmers, since then he's mostly been relying on a mig welder instead. Gas got too expensive, AGA where also out to get rid of large owned bottles and forced people on expensive rental schemes. So he basically gave it up. Told me I could have his old stuff:
Two torches, one's an older Vahli (finnish make that no longer exists, probably 70s era, no screw connections). I have cleaned them up and gotten them mostly in shape. I was going to restore and try my hand ad oxy-acetylene welding but you know, it's real expensive. I did some calculations and found it woudl be cheaper to go with a TIG, and since you can braze with a TIG too, I thought I'd get more bang for my buck just getting a stick/tig machine instead. And I did, too!
So what todo with this stuff. Keep it incase I wanna try oxy-acetylene anyway later, or sell it or something else. I don't really think it's worth trying to bring this kit back to life though, not for me. If I wanted a gas setup it would probably be for heating rusted nuts and silver soldering and I think a simpler propane setup might work just as well for that...
Any ideas / advice?
