Yep, picked mine up the other day too, very pleased with them. Absolute accuracy isn't essential for me but they are great for marking out.
You can do a click and collect for free, that's what I did. They even send you a text to let you know when they're in, and if you don't collect it within 24 hours, like I didn't, they phone you up to let you know too!
I agree - with reservations .
I did that, but as I wasn't going to be in town within the quoted "hold for seven days", I phoned and explained to a very helpful young girl at the Branch. I was going to pay PayPal online and pick up so didn't want to go ahead until I had an assurance that they cooperate with the timings. She confirmed it would be OK and she'd keep an order and mark accordingly. So I went ahead and paid for two of their [then] stock of three.
Went to pick them up yesterday after a hospital appointment and was intercepted at the doors by a bloke. (This [by observation] appears to be a new policy as everybody who came in was stopped by a 'Greeter' ). Anyway, said bloke took my details and disappeared into the bowels of the store, returning some time later to say he couldn't find them. I produced my phone and quoted the order reference in the text confirmation I'd received - "sorry Sir, we can't trace an order from that number"......
We told him I'd confirmed the agreement with his colleague and he shot off again. Fast forward [I had plenty of time to observe their 'greeting' policy in operation ] and he came back..."Sorry, still can't find them, but I'll give you them from the display stock". Fine, thinks I .
He returned, proudly bearing aloft two of the said rules, fiddled with the till, and passed them over [with a roll of wallpaper from the till into the bargain] -saying as he did so "That'll be £3.99 please, Sir."
By this time I was having great difficulty in not shouting at the Numpty, esp after sitting for a hour beyond my hospital clinic appointment time, but patiently explained in words of two syllables that I had used their website's 'Pay & Collect' facility when ordering, and, so that that would be the last thing he would remember when he regained consciousness, I suggested he either a) go and look one more time, or b) fiddled with the till, correct whatever he'd input and let me be on my way.
Off we go again and after a shorter wait, back he comes with my ordered steel rules, complete with confirmatory printouts [presumably done by the helpful Laura ] and receipts.
I don't normally loose my cool in such situations but undoubtedly the previous appointment hadn't helped and I know that wasn't his fault but he clearly didn't listen to me and his general attitude was that he couldn't possibly be at fault and was dealing with a three-year-old child . What's wrong with the 'yoof' of today...you can't even find a decent Numpty?
And I do get their new 'greeter' policy , they must have been loosing loads of stock to theft when chance customers were allowed to wander among the stock on dislpay racks.
Apologies for rant....... but just be aware
......and the obligatory bit of paper to say that I'd received them!
"(This [by observation] appears to be a new policy as everybody who came in was stopped by a 'Greeter' )."
It's policy in many places now....try getting through the door at screw fix...lol
Ours is the other way round... LolI noticed that in screwfix, while you're looking up stuff in the catalogue some numpty is nattering in your ear.
I also observed that the rather cute female counter staff they had when the store opened have now been replaced by not so cute blokes! Was this a ruse to attract lonely tradesmen?
