My old Herbert Flashcap lathe did have a guard over the chuck when I bought it, at the time it had a soft jaw chuck on it. But have been using a 7 inch 3 jaw for a long time now and the soft jaw guard would not fit, the flap for the key is in the wrong place. So decided I need to make a new guard, so I am after an 8 inch OD piece of tube at around 14 gauge only need 4 1/2 inch or 110mm length.
Now this is not a size I ever come across, so thinking of cutting flat strip and bending round. Has anyone got any clues as to the difficulty in doing this and or techniques when I do not possess a roller bender?
