Am I imagining it or did 2nd Class postage use to be faster than a week or more? I'm sure it used to be a day or two later at worst than 1st Class.
Considering it was a recorded delivery parcel, that was never recorded delivered then I am happy enough to blame them.....or perhaps I should give them another week just to be sure. That's hardly the fault of the post office is it.

Yet at the other extreme I ordered a small car part at 11am on Saturday, it turned up at 10am Monday, first class large letter package,
for the money they are incredible value, just not always the most dependable
I'm going back to the 60's I think? but 2nd class post was afternoon same day as 1st class.
Basically 1st class came about 7:30 in the morning and 2nd class mid afternoon.

i remember when 1st and second class post came out the postman chucking a few second class letters back in the post box then picking them out later
I seem to remember they also had about 4 collections a day from the post boxes too?.
Mate is postman. He gets phone calls from his manager whilst on his rounds (rural area) to check how he's progressing with deliveries. If he's not going to be able to deliver everything within his allocated working hours then the manager either has to authorise overtime or he has to return the post, undelivered, back to the depot to be included in the next days round. Overtime is very restricted so often post simply gets taken back !Yes, I remember multiple times on the boxes and the latest collection being at the main Post Office. Spoke to one of our Postmen the other day and due to H&S they have taken their bikes away so two of them now cover 600 addresses in a van. The time it takes is supposedly worked out by a computer programme.
