Following on from the success of Devs railing project thread and not wishing to hijack it, I thought I'd ask the clued up members of this forum for advice on some design.
I have been asked to come up with something to replace an existing wooden balustrade which had horizontal planks along the length. Now the customer wants me to replace this using existing post holes with steel, which means around 20 panels 1400mm wide. The thing is she wants as few horizontals as possible to keep the kids from climbing on them as the drop is quite substantial (my dad would have given me a clip and that would be the end of it but.....). Now obviously there has to be a handrail and foot rail but she isn't to keen on just a row of pales all along her garden. I was thinking maybe a large feature in the centre of each panel but I am having trouble coming up with an idea that doesn't breach building regs.
Any ideas?
