Newbie welder, help with chioce of welder...
Hi All, would like to say what a great site full of info.
I am new to welding and am looking for some advice on my first welder. I have a budget of £350 to £400 for the machine and torch all in, inc vat. I will mostly be working with 3mm - 5mm mild steel, I will be fabricating small trailers, 4x4 bits (rock/tree slider and winch bumpers etc) and I might make a wood burning stove for my workshop (and maybe sell a few of the things i make)
I was looking at the sip autoplus 181 dp, but then I started to read the forums, and now I am so confused my head hurts (didnt take that long!!)
I am looking for something that has a reasonable duty cycle so I dont have to worry too much about triping things out. I do have a couple of serious extractor fans that I could "build on" to give better cooling ??
So can you guys with all the knowledge PLEASE give me some ideas, im looking for a short list of 3 or 4 good welders that I can look at for my needs. I understand you get what you pay for, so I could go another £50, but I really need to get my kit including the gas bottle for £500. (rent free gas bottle so deposit for that and the fill in the £500)
so come and help me make the right choice.
cheers
