OK, so I'm really straying off topic here, but EV adoption has peaked and a number of manufacturers including Mercedes are drastically scaling back their production of EVs in favour of petrol vehicles_
Why? Because the government (any government of any persuasion) announcing that all new vehicles will be electric from 2030 does not address the problems cited above. At least that neighbour has access to the footpath to run a cable!
In Edinburgh in 2018, 168000 homes (68% of the total) are flats, and the vast majority of these were built more than 50 years ago with no dedicated parking. How do they charge their electric cars?
