Any fastener (automotive or otherwise) with a torque + angular movement is torque to yield. - an example is an M14 bolt on a Range Rover L405 front ARB mounting, 185Nm + 120 degrees. and yes, it's a bugg8r to achieve.Yes, i appreciate that. But as a means of educating those who dont have a clue about torque it works well.
Anything to do with torque seems to misunderstood in automotive. According to some, virtually everything is torque to yield! Yeah, sure. Had some clown telling me an M14 x25 bolt for a caliper was torque to yield! Like to see that achieved.
The thing with automotive fasteners is, the vehicle manufacturers are very good at providing the specifications for correctly fitting the fasteners (whether that is always followed is a different consideration!) A lot of manufacturers specify that brake caliper bolts are replaced when removed, for various reasons - one of which is 'torque to yield'.
