The mains cable on my lightweight Clarke mig is about 4 ft long and has been working fine for many years.
I recently collected a load of assorted cables so one of todays jobs was to upgraded the original "light" cable to "medium" cable (I have some spare "heavy" cable but that seems a bit like overkill)
My question is - what's length of mains cable do people prefer? For now I've fitted about 12ft, I'll see how it works but I'm expecting to cut it shorter fairly soon.
For info I upgraded the earth clamp and cable soon after I got the welder and it helped a lot.
Clarke do seem to spec cables down to the minimum that will do the job
