Lower axle mount on a Scimitar. It is a mud trap and they often rot out. Here is the work from cleaning out the rot to good metal...
The entire British car industry would still be going strong today……..I hope you put more than 5 tacks on it.
Possibly the magnets affecting the weld?Did you forget to turn the gas on for the first couple of tacks?

It is surprisingly strong apart from the axle lowers. It is a well recognised issue and is caused by it filling with mud and rotting out from the inside. She isn’t too rotten is she?
I didn’t realise you can’t see anything on the RSSOC now, without being registered. You used to be able to view but not post. I’ve got a stack of SE4 parts for sale like bumpers, rad etc. The car comes free with the parts. It is surprisingly strong apart from the axle lowers. Reliant used a lot of BL and Ford parts in their cars. Makes economic sense for a small volume manufacturer.Door handles look like Morris marina ?? .. I remember these cars back in the late 70,s and 80,s and lusted after one for years, got into 3 litre Capri,s instead as they where half the price
You can drop a Rover V8 into them.Just wondering if any get given engine transplants ? A more modern , lighter more powerful motor ?
Looks very nice. Who did the louvres?
