Recently purchased a triumph lathe which is running a 7.5HP/5.6KW motor on 3 phase and looking to install a supply in the garage for this and some more machinery in the future thinking about a bigger mill to replace the mini-mill at some point aswell as maybe a more powerful comp and other things.
My dad is an industrial electrician so would have a competent person helping on the install so not too worried about that however he deals with generators and HV systems with them nothing to do with any Variable Frequency Drives so thought I would ask here to see if anyone has any experiences with these.
This is the unit I am looking at
Slightly overkill at 10Hp and 7.5KW however thinking if they are Chinese watts not British lol , as well as starting current and room for expansion later on better to spend the extra few quid to get the higher power.
I do not think I would use the frequency change that much as I would just use the gearing on the lathe for that and keep the motor at whatever standard speed.
The 240 supply would be no issue either that can go up to a 32A plug so should be fine for anything this inverter will use not that I have any motors that powerfull.
Also UK seller so no messing about with much there atleast
