The myford languishing in my workshop for years has recently come in for some attention. I bought it unrunning, with some history of damage, all of which has now been fixed or replaced. However, I didn'tnget the original motor and pulley or intermediate shaft pulley. I did however get a 61/2inch, which I just fitted to a replacement idler shaft I made, bushes ready to be fitted. The motor is a 3 phase and I found a drive for it.
My question is - what size pulley is the biggest I should fit to the (1400 rpm) motor? I have a 31/2 inch, but this would run the intermediate shaft at 700 rpm maximum - is this too fast?
Oh, second question, either end of the intermediate shaft, between the tensioner bearings and the pulley one end, and the end stop the other end - the pictures I've seen show something that looks like a felt washer?
