My little bungalow has a bit on an anomaly, the top half of the brickwork on the front is a different type of brick than the bottom half, for reasons nobody knows. All my neighbour have matching brickwork, but I think mine looks awful.
The structural surveyor suggested maybe the wall fell down, and was rebuilt with whatever was available, but the neighbour doesn't ever remember that happening, and she has been in since they were newly built.
What are the options for painting, rendering, dying, bricks to look like they were built properly?
I don't really want to whack a coat of paint on it and then have to re-paint every few years.

And what is this wierd looking stuff that seems to have oozed out of some bricks, almonds like salt, very hard and brittle.
