They think I'm dutch, which is a compliment. Better than being Belgian...
They like anyone other than English and Parisian! Trouble is they label all anglophone as English!
My mrs is Spanish and Ive no English blood at all!
Echoes my views on the subjectthey think I'm from Quebec, confuses the hell out of them when you can swear back at them in their own language... personally I've found no real problems in general, from the start I made the effort to learn the language. I would expect anyone coming to live in the UK to learn English, so it would be pretty conceited of me to assume it should be any different here. The language makes a big difference, it shows that your trying. Sadly, I know people here who after 10 years or more who could barely say hello, thank you and do you accept credit cards, then say its difficult to be accepted??..
To me it doesn't matter where you live, I reckon it boils down to trying to fit in, wherever you go, they live their way, why should they change just because we've chosen to move in..
I agree with those views, but if you was to say that over here you’d be considered a bigotthey think I'm from Quebec, confuses the hell out of them when you can swear back at them in their own language... personally I've found no real problems in general, from the start I made the effort to learn the language. The rumours I heard about myself made me chuckle especially when I was being told them about me when They didn’t even know who I wasI'm in tourism, and we're run off our feet.
I don't earn alot, but we have a good standard of living, houses are cheap if you like renovating....
Nearly 20 years here, and it's rural, but everyone knows everyone, or you at least know who they're talking about.

Allegedly I’d been through every under thirty woman in the village, not with my boat!
Anyway, how's the roller disco drying @Mick Annick ?
