old 1930 s transformers have pcb in the oil for cooling . its not used and banned now. its still in thousands of transformers and is no big deal but u don't want to be handling the stuff all day long without gloves on. the odd amount on your hands isn't life threateningI was told that many of the older powerline transformers over seas had extremely toxic substances in them. The one that blew on our pole was not, according to the P.G. & E. crew that came out to replace the line.
