110v transformer exploded today

ive seen an old 11k transformer on a pole blown off on a farm the bang and mess was unreal bits of metal and oil scattered 50 yards

it works just cant be used on jobs though

I was told that many of the older powerline transformers over seas had extremely toxic substances in them. The one that blew on our pole was not, according to the P.G. & E. crew that came out to replace the line.

old 1930 s transformers have pcb in the oil for cooling . its not used and banned now. its still in thousands of transformers and is no big deal but u don't want to be handling the stuff all day long without gloves on. the odd amount on your hands isn't life threatening
