i'm about to restore the bodyshell on an old VW bus.
body panels are, i think 1mm thick, and chassis rails 2mm.
i'm a complete beginner, and most of the welding will be done outdoors.
so,any advice on welders would be appreciated.
i gather gasless spatters.
but, can i minimise this, or tidy it up afterwards.
i'm on a tight budget, but the best advice i've had is to spend as much as i can.
at the low end, there's aldi's £140 gas/gasless 130 amp job.
and i'm drawn towards a SIP weldmate 130p, at £235. (it goes down to 25 amp)
or, a sip p150gp, inverter, with free tig torch, at £332.
do i want an inverter? can't find much info on them, but small is good as i'll have to lug the thing about, or hide it in my tiny car boot.
oh, a manchester/NW supplier would be useful.
cheers.
