I’m no expert on Metals so this is a guess but I’m wondering if this is zinc possibly?
It’s and old baking tin the type you would put a turkey in.. I was given it ages ago and have a project I wished to use it for..
I’ve a 2mm thick mild steel surround for it and had wished to Tig it around the perimeter but no go... in the pic you can see the mild steel in the foreground and the lip and base of the tray behind..
As you can see it’s also a few holes to repair .. I ground the top surface off which gave this dull grey finish.. it’s not magnetic and reasonably heavy.. or is it actually tin..
Be good to know and if so can I Tig weld it to the steel ? What would I need to use if it can eg electrode wise and rod wise?
