It was never gonna happen. I’ve done a few weld test interviews now and if they want you to succeed and get the best out of you they do what they can to ensure it happens.
I have always set the machines up myself to within there wps if they have one. I’ve always had a few scraps of plate to tune it in with then when your happy you perform the test. I’ve never heard of not being allowed to use your own mask. That’s a new one on me and absolutely ridiculous. Unless they spot a H and S issue with your mask you should be allowed to use it on the day.
You should not beat yourself up about this because it sounds to me like I wouldn’t of passed that test either and I’ve been welding nearly 20 years.
