Penetration looked pretty decent when I had a look but will try and get a picture. Top left I sneezed (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it - as with the one two to the right). Will see if I can get a picture of the back this evening before needing to head out.Photo of the back please?
Thanks. I give credit to the machine, just played with the 'easy setup' option (R Tech Digital AC/DC 210) and must say it was an easy setup . Would be nice to have a stool to sit at the bench but I've deliberately built it quite high for other stuff and actually leaning against it with my hip isn't too bad with the pedal on the floor.Looks pretty damm fine for first go!!!
Worked yourself out of some tuition there - was going to get in touch but appears I don't need to nowThey look great. There is nothing wrong with them and the back side is irrelevant. If they weren’t biting into that plate we would know from looking at the face side. Get onto some joints mate.
You carry on as you are, get some joints slapped together.Worked yourself out of some tuition there - was going to get in touch but appears I don't need to now
R-Tech machine is a nice unit, I used one for a few years but had to give it back, now only have my R-Tech DC. Only criticism is the physical size difference to the DC units and constant noise the fan puts out, would be nice to have it thermostatically controlled or just quieter.
Start with some butt joints. Leave the fillets till you’ve got the others mastered.Well I finally found some time and an excuse to do some joints.
After a few doh moments (forgetting to turn on gas, not noticing it was in AC mode) and a lot of subsequent grinding of tips I started blowing holes through thin metal.
So decided to attempt some tacks and corners to bodge together a plate onto a bracket I'd started migging about a month ago for a shelf above the door in the shed.
After all the above I feel I could do a much better job third and fourth time around. Was also playing with the setup a bit more and using the torch trigger instead.
Well they're stuck together at least. And now my total tig time is up to about an hour. About 1/3 spent prepping, 1/3 grinding tungsten and 1/3 splatting metal together.
I am falling in love with TIG though over MIG.
