Hi;
I have a couple of posts on here about media blasting for refurbishing some carburettors, I am investigating several methods.
Next up though are all of the metal linkages, these I believe would have been zinc plated from new?
I have looked at a couple of short videos on YouTube ref home plating and it seems pretty simple (I have done electrolytic rust removal in the past so understand the process (in reversal).
One video simply coated with zinc but in another it suggested that just zinc plating is not enough as the plating needs to be cured or coloured with a chromate. Some Carb Linkages are yellow in colour?
Couple of questions:
1. Is Zinc Plating dangerous?
2. Does the Zinc plating need to be covered to avoid corrosion?
Thanks
