I appreciate the threads are locked if they get political but surely discussing "life" is allowed?
I spent 15 mins replying and the thread was locked without notice. I for one was pleasantly surprised to see people discussjng a delicate area with such discression.
Please tell me if my reply is about life or is poilitical.
I think this is much of the problem......very few of us "really" understand what people go through unless they are actually in their shoes. I cant really go into the PIP process as it might be considered political but suffice to say its a lottery....not fit for purpose and the people assessing are much like asking a manual lathe operator to check the CNC code for mistakes......they just dont have a clue.
To get back on topic (ish) its important for workers to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Moving the retirement age was a kick in the teeth to many older people but did not help to incentivise the younger generation.
That said my son had a few close mates at school and i would obviously be biased that he is now 27 and has rarely been out of work since quitting college. Has a partner is getting married in May and has a 4 year old son
One of his other mates rarely holds down a job or girlfriend and is what you would describe as workshy.....but he worked for me a couple of years ago and he grafted for 2 weeks. He did need monitoring and guiding though.
One of his other mates works for mercedez but rents his house. In fact my son is the only one of his group who has a mortgage. ( he was lucky his grandad helped him with 10k)
Anyway the crucial thing is all is not always what it seems......i am posting this from our 5th wheel having just walked the dog and had ciabbata rolls with Bacon Egg and Mushroom but i am desperate to get back to "being creative" with an end result.
Others who are in a **** job and low wages would kill to be in my shoes......but the grass is not always greener and things are not always what they seem.

Sounds impressive but have you any experience of the interview process for dla?
I attended with my wife who came out in tears after being asked why if she had considered suicide she hadn't gone through with it.
They don't give it away .
They also did away with the indipendent living allowance, which was a godsend to both my mum and dad. I dread to think about the mess they would have been in without it.
He wasn't a scrounger either bricky all his life till work goosed him and the full stint in Burma.
