I don't know anything about electricals or cars but I know this bit has been the cause of the problems in the past & now needs replacing...but I don't know what it's called. One of the connectors in the white thing is properly knackered. Can anyone help with the name? Cheers
Looks like a light fitting plug and the scotch locks for a tow bar....?
What I do as these look like standard spade terms....is to separate out the wires, solder ( dirty word this day and age) new spades terms and reconnect individually...
Last nearly forever....
I've cut them of cars/vans in scrap yards before... more recently just browsed ebay, found a van the same and messaged asking how much or the connector
as above I'd scrap the blue scotch locks, solder instead
you could pull the pins out of that connector and clean them up... they don't look that bad in the photo tbh
to get them out you normally stick something small and pointy in the back to push out a little notch/catch and release them
also you could have problems with the circuit board that it connects to on the rear light but as said clean them up remove scotchlocks and solder the wires ive soldered the wires direct onto the back light before now just extend the wires if needed
best way I've found to solder in tight places is to put a piece of heat shrink on.
twist the (bared) wires together, wrap with a bit of solder.
wrap in a small piece of tin foil.
quick blast with a lighter.
remove tin foil.
cover with heat shrink.
Thanks all. It's the rear drivers' side bulbs on my Peugeot Bipper van. You can't see the knackered pin in the pictures ironically as it's one of the ones up on the top row, not the bottom. I've been told in the past by a mechanic that when a bulb blinks intermittently or just dull then it's often just a bad connection. It's doing that thing where it alternate blinks between the brake light and indicator when you've only flicked the indicator. One of the top row pins is pressed backwards and is a bit corroded. I tried to clean off the rust and WD40'd it, but no joy. May have another go with a small screw driver to push it back into position. I want to get rid of the van so I'm reluctant to spend much time on it beyond getting a new part and just clicking it all into position.
