Here is a quick write up of my workshop extension I've recently done, the main build (to get it water tight) took just over 4 days to make
So this year I have decided I need more space.
So I went about designing and building an extension to the garage/workshop.
I planned to lay a 6" thick concrete base in the drive to then build up from.
After removing some very poorly layed tarmac I found there was a concrete drive under that.
So I just used that as the bottom of the new slab
Then sorting out the concrete. And found one of those companies who mixed it wile I wait
And a nice slab
It is about 3m long and 2.7m wide.
And then I waited a few months as I didn't have any spare time, untill I had a week off in-between 2 jobs.
So I started on the build. It was to be 40x40x2.5mm box welded together and wood infill to be able to screw the skin on to that and the box.
One side
Trial fit as this would be just off a wall
Then this was covered by OSB and felt and the other side started
Then I stood up the other wall and started to cover the 2nd in OSB after welding the roof box sections to the wall, these are 600mm centers.
And I decided to make it look nice I would clad it in uPVC and I don't think it looks bad,
And then put the roof on and tried to retain the original line of the roof.
The roof is 2layers of OSB with felt on the top, this is on 3x2" wood screwwd to the steel box to then give me the correct height.
But then I had fun trying to work out what I wanted in the door, and ended up making this, it is a 1.2m wide standered door but the most of the wall can be opened to give over 2.1m of an opening.
And then I had fun opening the sealed original garage door from inside.
So it looked a little like this inside
I am still going round finishing off bits of it.
But I am happy with the extra space I now have.
