well i needed a bench for the new workshop so decided as there is loads of scrap metal lying around up at the farm where my workshop is, that i would try my first real project with my new welder that i have.
the bench has been made from some old racks that had old tyres sitting in them, so decided to cut them up a bit and join them together to start on making a heavy duty bench.
you will see in the pics that iv welded them together and also cut them down( the whole rack was the same size as the backboard )
iv also been busy with my mate making the frame for the work surface and he welded in cross braces for me yesterday, now all i need is to finish off the worksurface and make brackets etc to have shelves on one side and storage trays on the other for bolts etc then paint it up and bolt on some vices.
there is still a few racks there so il be using them aswell and making up some other benches for around the worshop, im undecided as to have the others as double with 2 racks welded together or keep the reat as singles only.
here are the pics sorry no close up pics of the welds but il start posting more pics of welds and projects along the way.
