Not wanting to Hi-jack the oil burner thread I'll start this one.
I have a wood burner in my shop, heated shop area is about 30 foot square roughly and flat felt roof, not insulated, [ on the to do list for next year ].
Unfortunately it's my machining repair shop and has roughly 20 tonnes of machinery in it which takes a lot of heat to get up to temp but it does it quite well.
I'm going to take pics later today and update the post tonight but for now just a description as these are easy to build if you have a plasma / cutting gear and welder.
It was originally designed [ not by me ] to burn sawdust without any blowers, electric etc which it does but it's very slow in doing so and doesn't throw a lot of heat out.
However if you use those big bags of shavings and sawdust mixed that come off the 2 / 3 / 4 bag extractor units you see in woodworking shops it's ideal.
Mine takes a full bag, about 4' high and last 4 hours, whilst it's burning you can't get anywhere close to it. At the moment I can't get these bags local as a farmer has shouted up for most of them as bedding so I'm burning waste wood in all forms.
This is about the best pic I have of it at the moment, octagonal in shape and as a guide the chimney is 6" diameter.
Later....
