Hiya,im trying to weld some new floorpans into a vw beetle. The floor pans are a different thickness to the actual chassis.Any advice on the settings to use.Cheers
That would be settings for your sip migmate 130? (You didn't say!) To be honest, I have used 2 Migmate 130s, mine and my mates and they behave very differently to each other.
I don't know if they're all different but with both the best advice I can give is start on the thicker material then 'dip' over into the thinner material. I have found starting on the thinner material blows holes.
For specific settings, it's hard to say without knowing how thick your trying to weld, but try practicing on similar gauge materials with the speed controller straight up, and set your switches hi, then come down a setting at a time until you stop blowing holes and get a nice weld, then trim the wire speed (usually for me it needs to be slowed a little) until you get a nice sizzle.
This is just how I'm doing it. (I'm probably wrong, I usually am) It works well for me. The only difference I can see is I'm using a Migmate 130DP with flux cored wire, but I see from your other thread you're using gas.
