I’m planning on building a shepherds hut from scratch and whilst I’ve a plan in my head for most of it, I’m struggling with making up the ‘tyre’ of the steel wheels; what I want is a ring of flat mild steel, say 8mm to 10mm thick by 75mm wide in a diameter of say 500mm.
I don’t own a ring roller and definitely can’t justify buying or making one big enough to deal with stock of this size, so I was thinking along the lines of making this up in pieces (maybe 3 x 25mm wide rings), grinding a chamfer then butt welding these together to make the full width wheels. Does this sound feasible and could stock of this size be bent without a ring roller?
Thanks for any advice.
