A company I occasionally do work for asked me to make a stainless coil using 8mm tube. I was given the 6 meter length already filled with sand. They have run out of the original sand they use, so filled with blasting sand instead (im not sure what media it was, but wasnt glass bead I know). This was fine except for one particular tight bend. This bend requires heating with oxy-acetylene. This caused a problem whereas the sand media is melting inside and crystalising causing a blockage and a hell lotta beating to dislodge it.
So... What is the best sand to use where a lot of heat is applied?
Thanks.
P.s. There is a lot of dust when emptying and blowing the sand out, so a silicon free sand is preferable.
