what parts should i take off the disco before scrapping it?

Need to get rid of the scrap disco soon as I need to sort out the driveway.
I did the engine swap with mine on the grass side of it and it's made an absolute mess of the grass so needs sorting.

I was going to strip the entire thing, bag and label the nuts and bolts and have it stored somewhere but I can't even begin to find time/space to do that.

Don't need the gearbox, already have a spare (how many gearboxes does someone need )
Transfer box is stuck in diff lock so cba with that and also already have a spare.

What's bits would be necessities i.e I'll definitely need as a spare

I know as soon as I get rid I'll need something off it

Doors, glass, panels, anything that could get damaged in accident.

I think it depends on how much storage space you can devote to the project ...if you have loads of space ,all of it apart from the rust......jeff

Defender owners would give you cash for the diffs and transfer box (if fixable) as its a common swap to get higher gearing on the defender.

Also people swap the rear axel with disco ones on older defenders, to get disk brakes.

If you're breaking for parts, if you don't want to keep it yourself, I'm after an electric offside wing mirror!

Doors etc sell. Not for loads, but someone will want them.

The fuel sender is worth keeping. The pipes at the top rust and brake, and the wire on the sender arm (that is fixable though)

Filter head (fuel) would sell for a few quid on eBay.

Pas pump, alternator etc off your scrap engine.

4,bolt steering unit well worth keeping.

Seats worth selling if they're not ripped. Don't try and get big money for them, just move.them on..

Window mechanisms (electric) if not selling with the doors.

Wheel rims sell.

Back door is salable.

Interior trim fixings/screws/clips etc., don't take up much room to store but can save you a fortune if you break any in the future.

I don't know why you swapped the engines, but, if it was not a head issue, then take the head off before scrapping the rest.

And the turbo. And the injection pump.

Radiator may be worth keeping or selling. I don't think stock intercoolers sell for much, but it will be more than the scrappy gives.

Timing belt cover is probably worth keeping or selling. If the pulleys are not correct and the belt wanders it can ware the cover. Probably fairly uncommon, but you might try it on eBay?

Defender and Disco diffs are the same ratio. 300 Disco are 24 spline so can't be used as an upgrade for Series owners either who have 10 spline.
Transfer box being stuck (mine is the same ) is due to lack of movement of the lever and not the actual box. Easy cure by freeing off the lever pivot (can be done from inside of the vehicle).
I'm after plastic interior trim to replace the tatty and broken bits on my N reg 300TDi auto
Good front bumpers seen to fetch decent amounts.
Central locking solenoids worth keeping as my old 200TDi had a couple fail - I think water ingress.

Not sure about callipers. One of my rears was seized on one piston and new, not recon, replacement was less than £35.

The issue I've got with the running gear is that I can't really safely support the car on 4 axle stands to get everything off, the driveway slopes down a little and I'd be a little worried leaving it like that.

Just had a look at my back garden again and looks like I can free up quite a lot of space so going to start at the engine bay and work myself backwards, have a week left off work.

I've taken the rear interior trim out of my car, plus the carpets and insulation so I'm not too bothered about them

Wheels are 31 Inch insa turbos on modular rims so I'll be keeping those,

Rear leather seats went in mine, my fronts are alfa romeo seats.

Going to be busy this week off lol.

It's stuck in diff lock,I disconnected the lever and tried taking it out of lock with the tab on the top .. kept moving itself back to the locked position.

Pm me the interior bits you need and I'll see if there still OK .. I don't want anything for them. (Other than postage)

I've already taken all the engine parts off mine and put bits in boxes, was a recon head on it.
Chucked the block (and the useless bloody lift pump!) Into the scrap ones engine bay, sitting sideways haha.
