Out of curiosity I look down my tool bars to see a series of numbers and letters.
Now before we get to them, a right hand cutting tool.... does that cut towards or away from the chuck? To me logically a right hand tool cuts towards the tail stock (on the right as I’m looking at the lathe) but it appears that’s not the case as my pic below shows what I believe to be a left hand tool. Confused now.
Now I look down the bar and I understand some of the digits. The L means left the 1010 means 10x10 mm but what does it all mean.
I’m going to buy a quality holder for my ccmt06 inserts for finishing and facing towards the chuck what do I need to buy. What numbers mean what.
Too many questions here. @Hood among others can you help me here and can you point me in a direction of a quality bar 10x10 please. Basically I want what’s in my pic but the other way around. I’ll be up for putting a maximum £50 on to a decent bar as it’s probably gonna be the most used tool.
