What Cable Strippers

Does anyone know of a set of strippers suitable for 16mm^2 5G16 HO7RNF cable?

Normally i use a pair of these which are excellent on rubber cable - however they only do up to 6 maybe 10mm^2.

Had some cable the other day, wasn't the usual Titanex or Lineax stuff, was incredibly difficult to remove both the outer black rubber and the conductor sheaths.

I resorted to using a stanley knife to score the sheaths before using side cutters to remove the rubber. Even so some of the rubber was stuck to the bare copper. I'm putting it down to bad cable on this occasion.

However it would be a good time to get a tool for the job, it's not like the quality of electric cable is going to improve any time soon.

What do the electricians here recommend?

For bigger cables I use one like this (mines a much older version but same principle).

You set the blade to the insulation depth then spin it round the cable, then pull it off the end. It cuts round and then down the cable to leave the end bit to peel off. Loads of other manufacturers make similar, I've had Jokari in the past which were very good as well...

16mm, might just use the CK croppers, otherwise just a Stanley, works fine on H07 from 2.5 right upto 630mm

I use CK cable shears, with practice you can "ring" the insulation without cutting the wire.
