Hi, not sure if this right place to put this. If not I’m happy for it to be moved.
Anyway, I’ve been welding since I left school so about 17yrs, mostly mig welding. I’ve never had problems with my chest like I have this past year. I’m constantly sneezing with tickling throat and getting really bad headaches nearly everyday, it’s normally by the end of the working day after welding a lot.
I was ok welding and fabrication of sheet metal, but when I started a new job 4 years ago welding thicker material ranging from 10mm to 30mm using spray arc with mill scale not cleaned off the fumes were a lot more than what I’m used too which was giving me abit of a bad cough straight away.
We weren’t allowed to clean the mill scale as the boss would say its not needed as it’s not structural and it’s to slow to get the work done. I should of worn a respirator but me being me I thought it looked stupid...kicking me self now.
I’m not working now because I was getting worried about health, going get appointment with doctor this week.
I would love to go into tig welding instead, I tig at home with my thermalarc 202 and got pretty good at it.
Has anybody else had chest problems from mig welding and grinding dust?. Does it clear up?.
Sorry for long post, thought you guys would know your stuff about this.
Thanks.
