Welding Extensions To Chop Saw Stand

I'm thinking of asking the garage to weld steel extensions on the chop saw legs. So I can store my router table underneath, see photos.
The chop saw legs have an OD of 38mm. Looking through steel tube on Ebay I found, 42.4mm x 3mm. Fitting this over the chop saw legs as a sleeve, welding in position .
Would this be straightforward for the guy at my garage who does welding?

its looking like you want better ways to store stuff within your garage/shed

whilst putting on little extensions will do what you want it wont be enough

me personally id be looking at something i could use to store into whilst pushing the unit underneath

as thats build a shelf unit up and then slide the whole router table underneath

as goes for the chop saw id fold it up and store the chopsaw itself onto the shelf

now because i have all the joinery tools anyway building a wheeled table to store underneath a shelf unit is really possible

you can swap the table saw for a chop saw instead and the router table can be smaller on its width

Please check my maths:

42.4 - 3 - 3 = 36.4 mm which would seem to be smaller than 38mm. Hence, how will the new tube fit over the existing as a sleeve?

If you do find the correct ID tube to be a slip fit, why weld it at all? Drill a (or more than one) cross hole in the 38mm one and use a pin to retain in the sleeve. Look at how an axle stand is height-adjustable.

40mm plastic waste pipe with the bottom plugged up with concrete could provide the extension you need and has the advantage that it can be softened by heat to make its ID a snug fit on the existing legs.

was going to say the same...instead of the huge faff that is extending something, its a lot easier, quicker and more effective to just trim down whatever needs to fit
