Hi All,
I am a CAD engineer by profession and I'm working on a part where a pin needs to be welded to a plate.
Due to the stresses involved the pin is going to be counterbored into a 5mm plate. All components are stainless steel and will be TIG welded.
What kind of clearance do you think would be good practice to get optimum penetration?
The shouldered pin to fit the counterbore will be 2.5mm deep and 14mm in diameter with an overall length of 18mm. What kind of clearance do you guys think for good filling / penetration, 2.5mm? So plate couterbore would be 19mm?
Thanks in advance,
Ian
