Seams a bit splatery the weld. What is it?

What was the story though Joval, were they made by the owner or did he pay someone to make them? What's the general consensus on the VW forum, do members think that would be acceptable?

Who does this sort of thing? From the photos it would look like very bad practice even if the welds were decent - what would happen if a weld cracked?. A stub axle should never rely on a weld to hold it to the suspension. Added to that the materials involved and the fact the weld itself doesn't look up to much..... At least it should fall apart when the vehicle is lowered to the ground saving any safety related issues later on.
I'd be much more comfortable if bolts were involved, and I can't see any reason why bolts couldn't be involved in this case.
Please persuade the owner of the parts to sort it out properly. One of the VW forums must surely have accepted methods for converting Beetles to run Porsche wheels.
