First real go at TIG welding in anger, welds aren't perfect, but Rome wasn't built in a day...
Really done this the hard way, cut the flanges out of 10mm 304, using the angle grinder, then drilled the holes for the pipework with 35mm HSS holesaw in the lathe - missed the money shot on one of them and ended up off centre (ooopps).
Then had to make some reducers to account for the wide slots,
Some of the neater sections of the fillet between pipe and flange
And blended in on the back face
My TIG has a long way to come, but I've never tigged before, and spent under an hour behind the torch prior to weighing in on this job, which is for my own car by the way.
All done with [jeremy clarkson voice] the big saf [/jeremy clarkson voice] I bought a few months ago for £50.
Pipe to flange was done at just shy of 100A (on the dial at least) with 2.4mm ceriated tungsten, gas lens, and 1.6 308L filler.
Pipe to pipe (to make the transition pieces) was 50A 1.6mm ceriated tungsten, no6 gas cup, 1.6 308L filler. The pipe is 44.5mm 1.5mm wall, 304 stainless.
Gas was 5lpm for all welds.
