I'm now mostly running my 30-year-old Pocket Mig at max (claimed 110A) even for 1mm MS work. On 2.5mm MS I'm getting only modest penetration unless I seriously prep the joint. And even then I'm not always confident the weld is good.
So... what gas-MIG can I buy today that will (a) run from a 13A plug and (b) will have enough penetration to lap/butt/fillet joint 3.2mm MS with minimal joint prep even when driven by an idiot and (c) will be at least as nice to use as my old Cebora - with its semi-synergic wire-feed, 30A min setting and very high duty-cycle (coz I added a fan)?
Has anyone else upgraded from a Cebora Pocket-Mig and been happy/unhappy with their choice?
Budget: I wouldn't want to spend £500 and find I've bought something little better than I already have. Nor do I want to spend £800 to buy something that's waaay more capable than I need.
